The Affirmation Bank After Florence Scovel Shinn
Twenty lines from a 1925 classic, plus twelve new ones of ours.
The Affirmation Bank is a free card set for women who like their encouragement with a source. The first twenty lines are quoted word for word from Florence Scovel Shinn’s The Game of Life and How to Play It (1925), now in the US public domain, each with the chapter it comes from. Her language is 1925 and openly religious, so we left it exactly as she wrote it. The last twelve are new, written by Be Ambitchous. Use them as journal prompts or a lock screen. Pick one a week, say it, then do the thing it’s about. They are for reflection, not a promise of results.
Print it, cut it up, keep one in your wallet.
In her words
Shinn’s lines are quoted verbatim from her public-domain 1925 book, The Game of Life and How to Play It; the twelve lines marked new are original Be Ambitchous writing and are not Shinn’s words.
